Biography

Dr. Kate Bove is an assistant professor in the Languages and Linguistics department. She specializes in the syntax/semantic and semantic/pragmatic interfaces of contact varieties including Yucatec Spanish and New Mexico Border Spanish. Her recent work focuses on the semantics of epistemicity, expression of belief, and evidentiality. While she works primarily on Spanish, she has studied Yucatec Maya and briefly worked with speakers of Ts'utujil Maya in Guatemala. Her current project is starting the NMSU Bilingualism Lab that focuses on undergraduate and graduate student research of New Mexico Border Spanish.
